Museum Railway, Bezau
A very special historical train following the slow rhythm of long past times. Take a ride in the memorable "Waelderbaehnle" nostalgia train running between the two train stations of Schwarzenberg and Bezau. The train units are equipped with historical diesel engines or steam locomotives.
The original Bregenzerwaldbahn railroad line from Bregenz to Bezau (35.4 km) was in operation from 1902 to 1980. Unfortunately, the line was closed in 1980. Until 1983 only a small part was still available between Kennelbach and Bregenz.
In 1985 the official "Bregenzerwaldbahn Museumsbahn" Association was founded by volunteers, who started to renovate the historical train units with love to the detail. A part of the original railroad track was preserved for installing the nostalgia Museum Train. Over the years, the well-loved "Waelderbaehnle" has become one Vorarlberg's most popular attractions - not only for railroad and train aficionados.
The nostalgia trains are in operation from late May to early October. Check the website for more detailed information about extra trips and train rides to the cattle drive festivals.
