Holdamoos Nature Paradise, Schoppernau

Holdamoos Nature Paradise, Schoppernau

In 2000 the Bregenzerwald villages of Au and Schoppernau have joined forces in order to make the scenic "Holdamoos" area accessible to locals and guests. A landscape that promises real nature exploration thanks to its unique centerpiece, the almost 400-year old mountain hut saved from demolition and decay.

The Holdamoos Nature Paradise comprises also a colorful herb garden with many wonderful scents, lovingly maintained by the local Au-Schoppernau-Schnepfau Kneipp Association. Some 200-year old healing herbs and spices are growing here in a wind-protected hollow densely lined by trees and bushes. All of them are local plants, among the highlights rank the Bodensee forget-me-not or the Alpine arnica.

The plants and herbs grow in their natural surroundings and feature information boards with detailed descriptions. Furthermore you can enjoy a splendid Kneipp fountain, a special place of strength and a grill site.

Trail details: you walk on foot from Au-Rehmen or from the car park of the Diedamskopf mountain lift in Schoppernau - for both routes you need about 15 minutes on a family-friendly walking trail, which is also suitable for baby prams and strollers.
