Culture Highlights in Damuels and Faschina

Lovely Damuels and Faschina are proud of the deeply rooted cultural traditions still maintained until today. Both villages also feature countless modern highlights in perfect tune with the typical village life. Brass band concerts, music highlights, culture events, Bregenz Lakeside Festival or Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg are only a few of the manifold events.

You would never expect a museum in such a small village with only 309 inhabitants. Nevertheless, we have Vorarlberg's best assorted Ski Museum!

In summer 2013, a new cultural Center of Minor Arts was founded. The former Pfarrhof buildings (parish house) and the adjacent stables are now hosting varied cultural attractions and events. What's best, the Damuels Pfarrhaus can be found right in the village center below the St. Nikolaus church. It has been empty for several years and was reopened thanks to an initiative of Christian Lingenhöle and his plans to install the Ski Museum. The two buildings - parish house and stables - were adapted and made accessible to the public.

The parish house hosts varied temporary exhibitions while manifold events with up to 100 people are scheduled in the former stables. A perfect combination not only for culture events.

Additionally, the parish church of St. Nikolaus ranks among the widely known gems of the mountain village of Damuels. Its convenient location, overlooking the village center, adds to a truly unique ambiance. A visit to the fabulous Damuels parish church is an absolute must!

At the end of every second summer season the "WALSER HERBST" culture festivals attracts visitors from near and far, taking place in varied locations within Großes Walsertal and Damuels: a "steep" mountain festival with surprising features and exceptional highlights! The next WALSER HERBST is scheduled in September 2018.

Kulisse Pfarrhof & FIS-Ski Museum, Damuels

The Damuels Pfarrhouse can be found right in the village center below the St. Nikolaus church. It has been empty for several years and was reopened thanks to an initiative of Christian Lingenhoele and his plans to install the Ski Museum. The two buildings - parish house and stables - were adapted and made accessible to the public as "Kulisse Pfarrhof" in 2013. The parish house hosts varied temporary exhibitions, while manifold events with up to 100 people are scheduled in the former stables. A perfect combination not only for culture events.

Customs & Traditions

The mountain villages of Damuels and Fontanella-Faschina were settled by the Walser people coming from the Swiss Canton of Valais about 700 years ago. Over the centuries numerous traditions have been preserved and maintained by the locals while other customs disappeared.

"Walser in the Forest 18"

The musical Summer Series ' Walser in the forest ' is already held for the 6th time in 2018 and we are delighted that this music series, supplemented by classical performances, has been very well received by the visitors.

"Walser Autumn 2018 "

The 2-year event series of the Walser autumn has not been a real insider's tip for a long time. The steepest festival in the mountains has also made a name for itself far beyond the borders of the Walsertal and Vorarlberg and attracts numerous visitors to the region every year.

Damuels Book

On the occasion of the 700 anniversary of the town of Damuels in the year 2013, the book "Damuels-Contributions to the history and Present" was published by Michael Kasper and Andreas Rudigier. The aim of this work was to document more contributions from the recent past and the presence of Damuels and to let contemporary witnesses come to the floor.
